The Czech University of Life Sciences Prague in cooperation with the Consortium of ESCAPAdE project is organizing an one week summer school from 20 – 25 July 2020.

The summer school has been designed to introduce students, academics and stakeholders different methods of active pedagogy based on new applied technological tools and data from field and lab research case studies in applied plant sciences.

Programme

Taught by applied plant science professionals from seven European universities, all with an in-depth knowledge of different fields of plant sciences, the summer school will allow participants to acquire knowledge and skills in adaptation and domestication of underutilized crops. Through short illustrated lectures, and participatory and interactive teaching, the lecturers will demonstrate the process of new crop developments including innovative approaches in ethnobotany, domestication, genetics and diversity, agronomy and plant protection. Students will have the opportunity to work on group projects focussed on promising underutilized crops and join a visit to the living plant collection of tropical and subtropical useful plant species.

Duration and location

The summer school runs for one week (Mon-Fri) from 8:30-17:00 every day. Classes are taught at the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences situated in the Czech University of Life Sciences campus.

Costs

Students from ESCAPAdE network will receive a grant of 530 € for their stay, as well as a travel support depending on their location.
